9:15 – 10:00 a.m. Breakout 3 – Home and Away: Stakeholders’ Response to Corporations in their Community

Presenter Name: Amy O’Connor , Associate Professor, University of Minnesota / Hubbard School of Journalism & Mass Communication

Based on research conducted at the Minnesota State Fair, this presentation unpacks the relationship between location (hometown or elsewhere), stakeholders’ evaluations and expectations for corporations, as well as their likelihood to engage in pro and anti-corporate behaviors when corporations behave responsibly and irresponsibly.

3 to 5 Key Points to be Learned:  1. How stakeholders evaluate companies in their community compared to those located elsewhere; 2. What pro-corporate behaviors stakeholders are likely to enact in instances of CSR and if corporate location matters to those evaluations; 3. What anti-corporate behaviors stakeholders are likely to enact in instances of CSI and if location matters in those evaluations.
